Oil Change DIY Kit for Subaru EJ Engines

Contains:

1X Oil of your choice

1x Filter size of your choice, Part #15208AA160 or 15208AA100

1x Drain Plug Gasket, Part #11126AA000

Most Subaru EJ Engines require 4.5-5L of engine oil.  Aftermarket oil pans or oil coolers may require additional oil.  Common oil pans like KillerB or IAG typically will require up to 1L additional oil.

5W-30 X-Clean EFE, Part #109471, 5L x1

5W-40 X-cess Gen 2, Part #109776, 5L x1

100% Synthetic Engine oil meeting all OEM Specific warranty specifications. A fuel-economy focused oil intended for typical street use. If you’re looking for a higher performance oil to get the most out of your engine tune, opt for 8100 Power or the 300V series.

8100 Power

5W-40, Part #111809, 5L x1

100% Synthetic Engine oil that Motul has formulated to exceed all specifications and is Ester Based. Offers noticeable improvement in engine performance from the fuel-economy focused 8100 oils line. A good option for those looking for higher performance on the street or for light track driving.

5W-30 vs 5W-40?

Subaru suggests 5W-30 oil for our cold Canadian climate, but we at VEX Performance have been using 5W-40 for over a decade on all EJ engines for all weather conditions. Tall vs Short Oil Filter?

We specifically import the superior OEM Subaru Oil filters!  This eliminates the quality issues we have found with North American supplied filters.  The short and tall filters are internally the same, however we recommend the taller filter if you have the space because they have a larger filter surface area which can offer a reduced pressure drop through the filter, without sacrificing filtration ability.   The tall filter is 3.5" x 2.5" and the short filter is 2.5" x 2.5" - most Subarus can fit the taller filter.
