Reiger Suspension represents the highest level of rally and off-road damper technology available today. Proven at the top tiers of international rally competition with 7 WRC titles and 11 Dakar victories, Reiger dampers are widely regarded as best-in-class for professional rally racing and extreme off-road applications.

Each set of Reigers are highly customizable, with options much beyond what are listed here. If you are looking for a specialized setup, please CONTACT US. We’d love to talk to you about your build and tailor a configuration specifically for your vehicle, driving style, and intended use.

There are three different options available depending on application, with many customization options available: On MacPherson Style dampers (example all STi Front) we will have options for a 50mm Inverted Twin Tube 5062, or the WRC style 58mm Triple Tube 570. For non MacPherson style (example 2008+ STi Rear) we would typically have a 46mm monotube B46 setup. Each of these styles would typically be available as 1-way or 3-way adjustable.

1-Way vs 2-Way vs 3-Way?

1-Way dampers allow for rebound adjustment only and house all components within a single body typically without an external reservoir. This makes them lighter, more compact, and less expensive, while still delivering reliable performance. However, with less overall oil and gas volume, they are more prone to heat saturation and pressure fade during extreme conditions or long stages. They are also less fine-tunable by the end user.

2-Way dampers will allow independent compression and rebound adjustments and allow overall control, but are vehicle specific on where Reiger puts the adjustment knob.

3-Way Dampers use a piggyback or remote reservoir to add oil and nitrogen volume. This increases thermal capacity, improves heat dissipation, and helps maintain consistent pressure to reduce aeration/cavitation under heavy use. They provide independent rebound, plus independent low-speed and high-speed compression adjustments.

“High” and “low” speed refer to damper shaft velocity, not vehicle speed. Sharp, rapid events (potholes, curbs, rumble strips) load the high-speed compression circuit. Gradual chassis motions (roll in cornering, pitch under braking/accel, heave with aero load) act mainly on the low-speed compression circuit. Independent low/high-speed compression and rebound give a broad tuning window to match grip, ride, and platform control to conditions.

Twin-Tube or Triple-Tube?

5062 Twin-tube Inverted dampers encase a moving inner shaft within an outer hard chrome tube, allowing the internal mechanism to be continuously lubricated and cooled by oil, while the chrome tube is exposed and slides on large 50mm ID bushings and grease with a seal. This design provides a smooth, consistent damping response that is suitable for the majority of applications. Twin tubes are compact, cost-effective, and easier to service, making them ideal for track and medium rally applications. While they offer strong all-around performance, their simpler construction can be more susceptible to heat buildup and sideloading under extreme rally conditions when compared to triple-tube designs.

570 Triple-Tube dampers are an evolution of the twin-tube design. They add an additional outer chamber that allows for the inner twin assembly to be fully suspended in oil, providing better lubrication and heat control. This results in improved consistency during long, demanding stages and better resistance to fluid cavitation and fade. The added 58mm diameter of the triple tube design is much more resistant to sideload: this is especially beneficial in rally where horizontal forces applied across long-travelling suspension can overwhelm conventional designs and lead to failure.
